Difference between 8 ball & 9 ball pool

well apart from the no. of balls, what else makes difference in both of these games.
Are the rules same for both the games or different?
i have played 8 ball pool , looking fwd to play 9 ball,but before that i want to know this.

The objective of 8 balls is, both players must choose whether they choose solid (1 to 7), or stripes (9 to 15), and the 8 ball must be the last to shoot, and if not, your turn ended, and it has 15 balls. While 9 ball is common to all, which there are only 9 balls, and the objective is to shoot all the balls in order from 1 to 8 until the 9 ball falls and declared the winner.

-there is 15 balls
-you must shoot 1-7 or 9-15 after that you can shoot the 8 ball

9 balls:
-there is 9 balls
- you must shoot the balls in order from 1-9
