I've always wanted to punch anyone in the face who says, "aluminIUM". (Brits)
I've never heard anyone say it as aluminIUM...weird.
Another couple of words that don't exist are "posta" and "pacificly" as in "I pacificly told them they weren't posta do that." Drives me nuts...
Of course both spellings are accepted scientifically, but the original dude to isolate it started with guess what... the "um" suffix. Some British asshole decided that it didn't sound fancy enough and started to just pretend it should be "ium" and so they both just coexisted.
I wouldn't say you're an idiot or anything, but I always cringe when someone writes "per say" instead of "per se".
