That's funny, I've always wanted to punch people in the face who think AlumiNUM is the proper, original spelling/pronunciation.

Another couple of words that don't exist are "posta" and "pacificly" as in "I pacificly told them they weren't posta do that." Drives me nuts...

I thought those were "regional" words? What drives me batty is the people who say "I seen"

Of course both spellings are accepted scientifically, but the original dude to isolate it started with guess what... the "um" suffix. Some British asshole decided that it didn't sound fancy enough and started to just pretend it should be "ium" and so they both just coexisted.
