    Default New Rig!

I'm getting a new comp. got it at newegg. Phenom IIx4 920, 4 gb, 500gb 7200rpm HD, ATI 4850 512mg. might be a little overkill for skillgames, but I do other stuff too. I can't wait for it to arrive!

Your rig sounds pretty beastly...how much did you get it for? I'm gonna guess around the $2,000 mark...

Haha GG, I'm looking for a new laptop too. Dell.com has a sale that's going on until the 12th, so you might want to check into that.

As far as transferring data, is it just Word documents and such, or actual programs? Generally speaking, you just want to put all your stuff in 1 folder and move segments of it into a flash drive, and then transfer it into the new laptop. That's the easiest way to do it yourself, and all you'd need is a Flash thumbdrive.

Well, last time I had to do a computer to computer transfer, I paid $10 or so for a "cross-over" Ethernet cable. After following some online instructions, and a bit of fiddling with things, I was able to directly connect my new computer with my old via their Ethernet port and transfer over what I wanted pretty fast.

Ikaruga, it's not a name brand, and the least expensive that I saw. try $852, $888 including shipping. I was shocked. hope it's not a lemon. but the latest AMD processor for that price I couldn't resist. they(newegg) also had an Intel i7 for $970 I almost got that one.

NewEgg is selling i7s for $970?

I still think to this day that my dual core (bought back in 2007) is pretty damn fast....the i7 processor is getting hyped up so much that I can't even imagine what it does (or why the hell you'd need an i7 over a freaking quad core).
