1st potential 1,000 Scrabble Cube game Thwarted by Wife... RATS!!
There I was within striking distance of my ALL-TIME BEST Scrabble Cubes game (981), that I achieved almost TWO STINKING YEARS AGO...
My wife had to pick that specific game to walk in and ask me a question! I'd been playing for a couple of hours and hadn't even come close to any game as good as this! As a matter of fact, I hadn't even broken 900 in 2 or 3 days.
I wasted just enough time, and had my train of thought broken for just enough time to BLOW IT!! DAMN!! My wife started to ask me something, and I had to say... "I can't talk now... I'm in the middle of HOT ONE!!"
I was down to my last 30 seconds when she came in and had some decent words I was eyeing down, then had to recoup my mind after the interruption. I ended up having to scramble just to finish off the letters and when I saw my score... I was BUMMED!!
980!! Even if I hadn't have chosen any other words, I could've at least had my HIGHEST score ever! The last cube I had was a double letter "SER". I typed "ser", "ers", and then "r... e... " GAME OVER!! Missed getting the last "s" for "res" by a milli-second, which would have given me a 992! DAMN!
Then my wife says... "It's ONLY a game!"
My best game in almost 2 years and I get "It's ONLY a game!" It was only a warm-up game, but it still counts on my high score list! PLUS... I've only been playing for free lately so trying to get high scores is the only fun I've been having!
My only consolation is that it seems like I'm getting a little more consistent lately and I've been getting in the 800s a lot more, so hopefully, that 1,000 point game is coming REAL SOON! With hopefully more to follow.
What's more amazing is that I had sucked down a few cocktails and was playing "under the influence"!! Sometimes it seems like I play better like that, because I don't scrutinize every cube and just start slapping down words!
Anyways... I had to get that off my chest!
