Default so...how come we don't talk about worldwinner anymore?

it's no secret that the topic of discussion here is primarily king.com, along with a few new sites that have made headway into skill gaming. but what about the other major contender opposite to king.com, which seems to still be doing well for itself? are we all really banned from worldwinner () or has it been decided that it's too hard to consistently win money from there without being the top 2% at a particular game?

Worldwinner has actually made it difficult for anyone to consistently win money there, so even the to 2% don't hang out there much anymore. In many games, they've restricted it so that you can only have one of each tournament type open at a time: one 50-player, one premium, etc. etc. That means that people go on-line to play and hit a dead end after just ten or fifteen minutes where it won't let them play anymore.

And that is turning it into a ghost town.

Holy crap, that is horrible. I can't believe they're only letting people put in 1 entry for a tournament type....that doesn't even make sense! Bad business decision, as far as I can tell.

No, it's not one entry for a tournament type, it's only one of a tournament type open at a time. Thus you can open a 50-player, play it once or twice or more, take the lead, and then there's nothing left to play; or you can open a 50-player, discover that the leader had the game of his life, and decide to abandon that tournament. Since you can't open another tournament, you do one of two things: play one of the tournaments like the 5-player $1 tournaments that the top players never used to bother with, or go over to king.com and spend the next few hours playing there instead.

In either event, I haven't seen a single player, top tier or otherwise, post in favor of it on the message boards, and the top players are spending lots less time and money there. It's been this way for over a month now.

Typically I can enter the same type of tournament up to five times, but if it's in a game that's I'm Division 1, like Scrabble Cubes, it's might only be two tournaments (50-player +) because I don't think there are enough players to continue to keep those tournaments filled for the duration that they are offered. Typically the 50-75-100-player tournaments (for scrabble cubes) only runs for a few days.

I think you can turn a profit on Worldwinner, but you have to exceptionally good. The top 1% of scrabble cubes players consistently win almost all the high stakes and jackpot tournaments. They are certainly not complaining about their lack of winnings but they don't post on this forum. As far as the other games are concerned, like Bejeweled or more popular games where tournaments close faster (especially the 50-100 player) I would envision so long as you an score high consistently, you'd also turn a profit. And that should definitely not require you play for hours on end.

WW has either a lot of really good cheaters or really players so constantly winning there is much harder than on King. Or that was my experience. Also, King has a bazillion games and WW only has select popular games so certainly you can play longer on King than WW--plus king offers unlimited free play. But if you're looking to make money, both sites have the same pros and cons to me and in the end, it's all about how high your score is.

If that were the case, I would understand the policy. But they're doing it with their top games like Solitaire Rush and Wheel of Fortune. WW normally runs the multi-player tournaments for three days then goes to the next offering. It used to be that you could play in 20-40 tournaments of each type during the three days, and they would all close full. Now it's two or three in a three-day period, and they often close less than half full. It's really strange.

Until this change, it wasn't hard to make into the five-figures on Worldwinner. Lots of players did it. At this point, though, there's little reason to bother with it anymore. If I knew someone interested in getting into skill-gaming, I would no longer recommend WW. It's really that bad now.

What's messed up in my opinion is that it isn't all games, it appears to be JUST the most popular games. Last week I think someone was complaining about the best players being able to open up FIFTEEN tournaments of the same type in Luxor, but you can only open up one in SR and WoF? That doesn't make any sense. And I play Spider Solitaire, and the best few players are also allowed to open up as many as they want. In Zen Gems as well, players that are HIGHER ranked than I am are allowed to open up more tournaments than I am. Wtf? It's also adorable when they allow you into an extra tournament but force you to play beyond the point of profiting to get a decent score, or put you in Div 2 in all competitions except premiums where you're in div 1. Ww is making one stupid business decision after another, and it's sucking the fun out of the site. It's not enjoyable to play, it's barely profitable, and they refuse to acknowledge that they're being idiots. If it keeps up, I say good riddance.

That's what's bothering me too, is that they don't bother telling players what's going on. It's clear that they did a big update of some sort because everything happened all at once and then suddenly in some games they reset your ranking to zero, so that you have to replay X# of games in order to requalify for dailies etc. So something changed. But not a peep from WW about it.

Ww seems to have the mindset that if they don't comment, players won't notice anything is different and they can keep messing up the site. Then when they complain and revenue goes down, they say well too bad we like it this way. Then after a few months when revenue is STILL down, they make changes similar to the ones that screwed everything up in the first place and make everything worse instead of fixing the initial screwup that wrecked it all. It's like they refuse to admit when they made an error. Like with progressives, when they changed it from top-heavy to the way too even setup and prizes plummeted, did they put it back to top-heavy? No, they tightened the rankings for progressives and offered more tournaments for less money and now they're almost completely useless. Gj, ww.
