Default On King... Does it do any good to start yourself off with a low ranking?

I've never tried this before and I was wondering if anyone else has.

Let's say you get really good at a new game, and haven't played any cash games yet. If you intentionally start your cash games off lousy and get a lower rating, will that make it easier to win in the tournaments at first?

Or does everyone start at the same level once you play your 5 starter games, whether you did good or bad?

You actually do get to start playing with a lower rating that makes it easier to win in the tournaments at first. I've had my rank as low as 1900 to 1950 in some games.

    It wasn't intentional though.

If you win your first 5 provisional games isn't your starting ranking about 2130 or something? I don't think losing 5 of them would really end up being profitable. And don't mess with king.com. If they see you tank 5 provisional games then take down 1st in the first progressive you enter who knows what they will do. Don't mess with King if you value playing there! If you make them angry you may not like what they do to you.

That's one of the reasons I wasn't going to argue with them. I read a few articles that said basically... it didn't matter if you were justified in your complaint, if they don't like your attitude or tone, they'll just ban your account!

everyone starts at 2000, if you win the 5 provisional, like dpaull said, you be around 2100 something so there is really no reason to 'tank' the first 5. I think, but don't quote me, the progressives under 2000 rank are the same as 2000 rank players, so everyone is together. and it's that way until you reach 3000. so really no reason to tank games that early.

I really don't like how the games don't tell you what ranking span the progressives cover. For the most part it's standard (0-2999, 3000-3999, 4000-5999, etc.) but every once in awhile they'll throw in something weird where you find yourself playing against a higher ranking group, with no chance of winning.

I noticed this mostly with older games at first like Magic Spinball, Jungle Bubble, Go-Go 21, etc. But more recently Love Me Love Me Not is doing it too. If you're in the 5,500+ ranking you'll find yourself playing against warrior kings/queens instead of the 4,000-5,000 rank that you expect.

According to Fool, this is set for each game separately and isn't something you can count on across the board. I suppose that's fine, but shouldn't we at least be able to tell before we play the game?
