I have two dogs and a cat right now. The dogs are big though. A female golden retriever and her puppy who's half golden retriever half siberian husky (that was an accident...she was stealthy...she was in heat). But, since they're buddies and like to hang out together, they mostly stay outside. I have a doggie door into the house, but the husky mix likes it outside in the winter...so she stays out with him. I want a doggie to sleep next to me...and my cat. She'll have to share her spot.

And GG...what's wrong with little ant farms??? My son wants one. He wants the kind that is made out of gel. I guess they eat the gel as they tunnel around.

ants trapped in a plastic container? pfft i prefer to take care of ants in their natural environment thank you. i LOVE ants. i wouldnt trap them on purpose for my amusement

and how can you feed ants juice and watch them drink it and see their cute little asses turn the color of the juice as they walk away? SOOOOO CUUUUUUUTE! better than any kitty or puppy

Alright...you toooootally took the fun out of ant farms! What a buzzkill!!! Seriously though...that's a really good argument against ant farms...not to mention a good excuse to not have to buy one.

ants in the backyard are free with purchase of a house LOL! what a graet deal?

seriously though build a bond with the colonies in your yard. it is really cool The funnest things to watch that my ants do are.....

    drinking juice
trying to bring back melted marshmellow to the colony (the marshmellow stick the the ground that the ant slingshots back and forth when it tries to pull it away. LOL! sometimes they get stuck XD so i help them out. but if i see an ant having trouble, i gently tap them, they wait and i pick off a tiny piece that they grab off my finger and take back. when ants trust you it is the coolest thing in teh world ^__^)

i like making special delicacies for them too like....

gutless brick fried worm placed on a stick
wingless wasp with crushed cereal on top
Fried slug with smashed grasshopper as an appetizer

see how ant farms are soooooo lame? XD

plus you can view ant mating cycles that happen just before spring starts. they are usually between mid febraury to mid march . You know after male ants have sex they die? LOL and the only way for male ants to live forever is to be virgins their entire life? LOL! the only male ants in an any colony are teh breeder males who mooch off th e queen their entire life, have sex in mating season, then drop dead lol. the workers, queen, scouts, soldiers, diggers, etc are ALL female ^_~

i like that my ants know and trust me. like when it is raining outside they climb onto my hand (while i protect them from the rain) and i either keep them there or drop them off at the scout path or their colony aaaaah i love ants. cant you tell? ^_________^

i have been taking care of these colonies ever since i was 3 (i dont think i was 4 yet.....i think i was out of the hospital in my late 3s lol ). that was when i turned my sandbox into an outdoor ant house ^_~

Plus thanks to the ants i am a grand B-Ball Champion! One of my friends says he likes playing b-ball (as in basketball). PFFFT how LAME! I play REAL B-ball! aka BEE-BALL! When an angry hornet comes your way, get your trowel ready and BAM! GRAND SLAM HIT! But oh no! the Bee is even MORE mad now! soooo be ready for a surprise attack from its friends.....and aaiiiiimmmmm and BAM! SLAM those bees into the ground or tree trunk! Crush the bees, and feed it to the ants. XD ok so ants eating bees is a bit cannibalistic because bees and termites are ants cousins....but STILL, they love eating bees XD

Now THAT is REAL B-Ball ^.~
