    Default Hey

    Hi everyone!

Nice site, can't believe I have not joined before!

I play skill-games on King mainly. I've tried plenty of others like WorldWinner, DiceArena, SkillAddiction, SkillJuice, etc, but haven't really found any I like nearly as much as King. I also play a real cash MMORPG called Entropia Universe, and sometimes Eve Online when I have the time.

In real life I'm a mathematician and I work for a company that builds predictive models of sports results and builds trading software.

Hey, nice to see another familiar name! I feel the same way, King games are just a lot more fun. It's hard for me to master games that I don't enjoy playing.

Seems we have similar professional lives, I build forecast models too, but for transport and world trade.

It's not so busy here these days but I hope you stick around!

    Welcome!

What level of education did you get in mathematics? That's my field, but I'm undergrad

Sounds like an interesting job, and yes, I will try to make sure I stick around! Nice to have a place to talk about the games.

Thanks Renaldo. I have a doctorate - if you go that far I'd suggest taking a little more time thinking about what area to study than I did! I haven't really used it at all, although I guess the research skills stick with you (and I got to enjoy an extra 4 years of university life hehe).

My only trick to that one is to set up a nice string of extra matches at the start of level 1. And then if I'm not very careful, run out of time before the end of level 2! I suspect there's a better approach, but I did alright in the progressives until my rank got too high.

Haha, looks like theres a trend between king players and mathematics. I just got my BSc in it also. Dont know how you managed to do a PHD in it Bozonik, I hated it, lol.

    Pffft, physics >>> math.
J/K, I love math, but I'm really happy I chose to study physics. I really hated the theoretical math subjects in my first year. THEORETICAL MATH SUCKS MONKEY BALLZ!!!

There definitely seems to be a correlation between GOOD king players and math. I bet the correlation between king players and 35-50 year old housewifes is pretty high too.

I must be the only person in the forums with a liberal arts undergrad. Maybe that's why I'm only good in 1 genre of skill gaming while you guys rake it in like Tony Montana in everything, lol.

Well, there are hard moments with Maths, but also some very rewarding moments. I struggled a bit as an undergrad with the rigour of it all (like proving 'obvious' stuff like a continuous line which is at one point above the x-axis and another above it must at some point cross the x-axis) but eventually you come to see how important and elegant that stuff is. And by the time you're doing a PhD you would hopefully be focussing on an area that is interesting to you.

Physics is cool too. Although I always liked David Hilbert's quote "Physics is too hard for physicists."

Interesting times for physics with the crazy lightspeed beating neutrino results!

Yeah, I think the numeracy and puzzle solving skills help quite a lot. I guess IQ and good King players are pretty highly correlated too, it might be that we've finally found something IQ tests are good for!

But you do need speedy reactions, good hand-eye coordination, good observation skills, etc, for King too. Probably spending far too much of youth playing computer games helps

Hehe, but you're pretty damn good at that genre
