Default High Stakes Tournaments. Would you have the guts?

If a site that a game that you had an elite level of skill in, would you be willing to play in high stakes tournaments that were ensured to be cheat-free?

$100 to enter, 10 slots. 1st place gets $600, 2nd gets $300, 3rd gets $50. Would this prize structure attract you towards playing for high stakes? If not, what would your suggestions be towards giving high level players a chance to make some real money in skill gaming again?

I'd love to hear what you guys think, looking forward to it.

A short answer would be "no". 100 dollars is far too much for me to risk in one single game.

I would be tempted, though, if I had that amount gathered, but I'd prefer a different winning structure. Without having thought it through too much, maybe like this:

    1: 450
    2: 250
    3: 140
    4: 110

I would want an account balance of say $1000 before I even considered entering such a high stakes game. If I were truly elite and had a good feel for the other elites in the game, I would consider it. I would also favor a structure like zekila proposed. Easier to stay afloat if you make a minor mistake or another player flukes a really high score over a great score you posted (i.e. using King's old Bejeweled 2, you score 14,000, but another player flukes a 20,000)

I think $2.50 is the largest entry fee I ever pay. I can't imagine the pressure I'd be under if I put $100 on the line in a single game. This structure is so not for me. Of course the only thing I may be considered elite in is dynomite. and with that game you enter a tournament knowing you most likely will have to play multiple times.

They had £9 games at king, but the higher I went up the ranks the less people that play them... so I dont think they would work at high ranks in a lot of games, probably better in mid level ranked games

I already felt incredibly guilty when I blew €10 on a Mahjong Fortuna game so I doubt I'll ever be interested in such high stakes.

Haha, all points well taken. Thinking about how premiums were in WorldWinner, it wasn't necessarily the best players going at it for big cash prizes...it were the rich housewives who had money to blow for their entertainment.

It would be fair to say that the majority of us (the competitive bunch on King & WW) are more geared towards entering low entry progressive tournaments in hopes of winning a big top prize, and are too piss scared to blow big sums of money on a game or two. Alrighty then, I'll keep that in mind.

As long as I know I have an edge, I'ld play stakes up to 500$. Probably even higher if I could affort it.
