ROFLMAO ... I didn't expect ya to give me your P&L reports, but I woulda been giddy, if ya had!
$1200 ain't chicken feed ... however, it depends on if only the top 4 players got that payout (inside joke, folks ... a discussion we are having in the SA forums).
King remains a frustrating enigma to me ... I can't get in to play, so ...(see my other post today about it)
Spootnic has taken a specific stand on limited/small wagering (which I don't necessarily see as a bad thing or marketing tactic), so I wouldn't expect to see them ever have very large payout tourneys. I dunno remember what they were like, when they were Games n' Roses, so until I do my write-up on them I am limited to knowing that: one, they seem to have the best graphics, but slows down gameplay, and two, they are very French, and three, I dunno why they changed a perfectly catchy name for themselves!
Thanks for mentioning Gamarena (which is now - DiceArena), as I didn't know about them. Now, I dunno if they will take my money (PayPal is not listed), but in their "terms" they do allow U.S. Players that are not on the exempt list. I just succesfully registered with them, so ... (geez, like I need one more place to write about, right now)
uVme - WTH happened to them? Snazzy site, marketing, great graphics. But, that affiliate program I wouldn't touch with any sized pole. If I had $200 to part so easily with, I simply pour it into SA, WW, etc. and try to earn that way. As far as playing, I played and still seems to be running.
Nowplay.me - When I first started signing up for skill game sites, last year, I actually stopped playing at SA and the like in favor of playing at Dukebox. I really liked what was being developed there, so I am wayyy confused and disappointed that they have stalled out.
Gamebonus - I am not sure whether to be relieved or disappointed that they are, in fact, dead. Cannot reach the site in any form. OK, one less website to worry about ...
Skillground - ... only able to reach the veryyyy ugly rumblings of a forum there. the main site does not come up.
One other ancient skill game website IS seemingly alive and running: Game Colony. However, it lists my State of Nevada, as a prohibited state, so while I registered and played a couple of games ... I just dunno what to make of them.
Having this industry in such a struggling state is both a curse and a blessing. It's frustrating to grow and improve, yet opens all kinds of doors and windows of more inventive stuff to try. Having a deeply dug in and successful business model would make it just as difficult to break in as a new or "indie" skill gaming site. We are still knee-deep in a recession (I may be living outta my car in the next 4-6 weeks, which would be funny, if it wasn't so true), so drawing in new folks to freely part with cash is equally difficult, regardless if you are King, WW, or SA.
What I do like seeing, and inspired me to jump into this, is what SA is trying to do ... stay in the mix and keep active and develop new ways to draw in noobs, despite all the crap that has beaten others down, or stalled the industry as a whole. For a guy like me, it would take years for me to get into the "community" as a premium player at WW. And I just have no way to compare with regards to King. SA is doing what I thought Dukesbox was trying to do a year ago, which was gamers getting getting involved with the players to build a better mousetrap.
LOL, this is all getting off-topic here ... sorry, I still don't have a guess, yet. And I've probably given someone else a headache. And don't think that I am stroking SA ... I hate the website (I've built too many of them, myself), the graphics for the site and most games are pretty lame, and gameplay can be twitchy in some places where it should be snappy. And, the forums remain hard-to-find, and with the exception of me ... rarely utilized.
... and something, for gawd's sake, must be done about those creepy eyes in the new game, Blockies!!!
